Located in Baray District, Kompong Thom Province, this Khmer Homestay is ideally situated along National Road No.6, about 120km between the capital of Phnom Penh and the popular tourist destination of Siem Reap, home of the world-famous Angkor Temples.

Khmer Homestay Baray was set up to promote local crafts industries as a means of alleviating rural poverty.

Whether you are a day tripper or someone interested in staying in one of our bamboo huts for a night or two, a visit to Khmer Homestay is a chance to experience “real” Cambodia.

If you are looking for a comfortable yet authentic place to stay, Baray Homestay is just for you.

There are few accomodation options:

  • Bamboo Chalets – crafted in the style of traditional Cambodian huts, they have double or single thin mattress, mosquito net and battery operated fan.
  • Palm Leaf & Wooden Chalets almost identical to the houses you will see in the surrounding  with single or double thin mattress, mosquito net and battery operated fan.
  • Deluxe Wooden house the largest home within the Khmer Homestay, our deluxe wooden house is perfect for families, consisting of one master bedroom with en-suite bathroom as well as a living room/extra bedroom, dining room and kitchen.

  • Ox Cart Ride to the paddy fields to watch the SunsetThe sunsets over the rice fields of Baray are not to be missed and, with the help of a trusty ox cart, you will be taken to one of the areas best spots for watching the sun go down between the palm trees. A great combination of a gentle ride and some magnificent views

 

If you are planning to spend several days in the local area there is plenty to do:

  • Pony Cart Ride through the Villages – on the back of a pony cart, the main form of transportation in this part of Cambodia.
  •  Walk Around the Village/Visit Homes and Khmer Noodle Making – The heartbeat of Baray is its warm and welcoming inhabitants and you will get the chance to meet one of the families living in the surrounding village, walking by foot from Khmer Village Homestay through the back roads of Baray to bring greetings from your home country
  • Boat Making and Fishing Expedition (seasonal)- Catch a unique glimpse of how local villagers sustain themselves, by watching them carefully carve their fishing boats from trees at nearby Phum Dong.
  • Visiting the Weaving and Woodcarving Workshop by Village Women

 

 

 

 

This site is on the main road from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, it is served by many buses and VIP minibuses.

Ask the driver to drop you off in Baray village, it is 12 km from the south of Kampong Thma Market.
