Description

Spend morning or afternoon on a boat, exploring the Mekong river and its Stung Treng Ramsar Site. With this stretch of the Mekong River recognised by the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance (www.ramsar.org), dozens of islands, a rich array of bird life, and various rapids and waterfalls cascading down from Laos, this is one of the wildest and most beautiful sections of the Mekong river.  Along this stretch, the river is fast flowing with numerous channels running between rocky and sandy islands.  This trip can be made both in the dry and rainy season, with water variation in water height is 10 metres.

It was designated as a Ramsar Site in 1999 because it contains a unique seasonally flooded riverine forest habitat, and is also home to the Irrawady Dolphin Orcaella brevirostris and the Mekong Giant Catfish Pangasianodon gigas.

You can book the tour either for morning or afternoon (lunch Included). Please let your hosts know what time you would like to leave, and they will co-ordinate with the boat owners.

The boat will stop whenever you wish to photograph the amazing birdlife. You can swim in the cool and clear waters.
