Banteay Chhmar Community – Day in the life tour

This tour will give you a chance to live, work and learn about Cambodian village life for a day. You will spend most of the day with the families living in Kbal Tonsong Village. This is one of the oldest villages in Banteay Chhmar. The village’s name is related to its history. Kbal is “mean head” and Tonsong is a kind of wild animal.

TOUR DETAILS

To explore the local countryside . Take a moto or koyun to Kbal Tonsong Village to view the rice fields, meet the villagers and prepare to spend the day helping in the village with whatever work they may be doing such as planting vegetables, preparing land, cutting cassava, planting or harvesting rice, cooking meals, housework or other activities , enjoy Lunch with a family in the village (prepared by a CBT-trained cook). Afterward, relax in a hammock, take some photos, try to learn to speak Khmer, read a book or stroll about. Continue visiting and helping the farmers and villagers on their rice or cassava farms including a possibility to go fishing in one of the village’s ponds. Say goodbye to the families, travel back to Banteay Chhmar stopping along the way to take some more photos, if you wish

Itinerary

7:30 a.m. Breakfast in your homestay prepared and delivered by CBT (or, in the CBT restaurant)

8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Take a moto or koyun to Kbal Tonsong Village to view the rice fields, meet the villagers and prepare to spend the day helping in the village with whatever work they may be doing such as planting vegetables, preparing land, cutting cassava, planting or harvestng rice, cooking meals, housework or other activities

11:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. Lunch with a family in the village (prepared by a CBT-trained cook). Afterward, relax in a hammock, take some photos, try to learn to speak Khmer, read a book or stroll about

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Continue visiting and helping the farmers and villagers on their rice or cassava farms including a possibility to go fishing in one of the village’s ponds

4:30 p.m. Say goodbye to the families, travel back to Banteay Chhmar stopping along the way to take some more photos, if you wish.

Banteay Chhmar is a commune in Thma Puok District in Banteay Meanchey province in northwest Cambodia. It is located 63 km north of Sisophon and about 20 km east of the Thai border.
